Len and I enjoy trying local restaurants while we are on assignments. During one of these culinary adventures, Len began a conversation with his waiter. The waiter was attentive and friendly, and it was easy for us to have a conversation with him in English. Len learned that the waiter had experience in treating lepers. It seemed natural for Len to tell him the story of Jesus healing ten lepers. A friendship had begun.
About a year later, Len saw his friend again at our lodgings and the two embraced warmly. When Len presented him a Bible in his own language, he hugged it to his chest with delight and reverence. Two days later, the man told Len that he had read all of Genesis, Exodus and part of Leviticus. Surprised at his hunger for the Word of God, Len recommended that his friend pause to read Luke and John. He promised to read these gospels! We continue to pray for his salvation.
We praise God for this friendship. It is evidence of Isaiah 3:17:
"Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off."
